Garden Club of OmahaSeed and
Beautification Project Grant Program2012 Purpose: The Men’s Garden
Club of Omaha is a non-profit civic organization, dedicated to the passion of
gardening. Its grant program was developed to:
1)
Spread the knowledge and passion of gardening through its members and the
members of the community
2)
Support education in horticulture and related fields
3)
Undertake sponsorship of beautification of public property while promoting
gardening
Description: Each year the club will consider projects
worthy of grants to promote our purpose.
Grants up to $1,000 will be awarded, to be used for supplies and
materials associated with the project. Stipends or wages will not be paid with
this award.
Amount and number of awards will be determined yearly, dependent
upon the monies available each year for disbursement.
Application: Interested organizations are invited to
complete and return the application form (attached) by mail or e-mail.
Completeness of the information about the project plans will assist the grants
committee in making its decision on awards. Photographs of the site, while not
required, would also be helpful.
Deadline: Applications must be received by March 1,
2012 or November 1, 2012 to be considered for a grant. Applicants will be
notified soon after the decision date.

evidence that the work was completed,
(B)
your assessment of the project’s goal having been met
(C)
your evaluation of the project’s benefit to the intended audience. Photographs
would make the final report
more complete, but are not required.
3. By what date do you expect to be able to evaluate the success
of your work?
This report could include a presentation at a Men’s Garden Club
meeting, to be scheduled in advance.

The Omaha Council of Garden Clubs offers a $1,000.00 scholarship as a means of encouraging horticultural students to seek and continue college work in the horticultural areas. The scholarship is to be used toward payment of tuition at any college.
ELIGIBILITY
1. The applicant must be a resident of the greater Omaha area.
2. The applicant shall be currently enrolled in college as a major in horticulture, landscaping or a related field.
MAKING APPLICATION
1. The applicant shall use the form provided.
The application must be on file with the Omaha Council of Garden Clubs Scholarship Chairman:

Letters of recommendation must accompany the application.
4. A previous recipient of the Irene Starr Memorial Scholarship may reapply and be considered in the same manner as other applicants.
SELECTION OF RECIPIENT
1. Members of the Omaha Council of Garden Clubs Scholarship Committee (not related to the applicant) shall select one recipient and an alternate by November 7, 2011. Should the committee desire it, personal interviews shall be required.
2. The Recipient shall be notified of the award by mail or telephone.
PRESENTATION AND PAYMENT
The recipient shall be presented the scholarship award at the Omaha Council of Garden Clubs Annual Meeting
